GTI International will be held on weekend of the 2nd & 3rd June 2018 and we’re pleased to announce that once more it will be held at Rockingham Race Circuit, Corby, Northants.
Our move to the new venue of Rockingham Racing Circuit has been successful, with plenty of enthusiastic feedback from all areas of the press, clubs, trade and visitors alike. We certainly learnt much from our first visit to Rockingham and 2018’s event promises to be even better than 2017, building upon the usual wide range of popular features.
The main focus of attention is the track where visitors can either test the acceleration of their cars against the clock with 0-60 runs and 1/8 mile times or they can test the ability of themselves and their car on the National Circuit, with lapping sessions available. Passengers are also able to ride with mates or try demo laps with the many trade vehicles attending.
The strip will also see demo runs from many of the country’s top tuning companies, showing exactly what they do best, as well as demo runs from members of the Volkswagen Drag Racing Club.
For 2018 the viewing area overlooking the National Circuit will be expanded and as ever the pit roof offers a great view of the action.
With stands and displays from all the country’s top tuners and traders, plus there is a car sales area, autojumble plots, catering units, bars and children’s amusements.
For those who prefer to polish their cars, the Show ’n’ Shine and Concours competition attracts hundreds of the best-kept VWs in Britain, from original and restored concours classics to highly modified custom cars. Staged on the inner paddock tarmac area, there’s room for over 200 top-quality show cars.
There is also overnight camping on site which is within the paddock area on a first come first served basis (arrival from 3pm Friday), with permanent toilet and shower facilities.
We expect club parking areas to be well subscribed and many clubs also put on special displays but please do get your numbers in early as we expect this area to fill up quickly, so any clubs wishing to attend and be on a single plot should contact us as soon as possible to register their contact details and reserve space at the event.
