Description
Belgrave Square Garden, a generous five acres in size, opens its gates to the public for a week in June for an array of exciting events – a barbecue and a dog show, to name a couple. This year, in partnership with Chestertons, Grosvenor and The Belgrave Square Garden Committee are adding a classic car show to the roster, acting as a very shiny four-wheeled cherry on the cake that is this week of events.
For the second year running, The 96 Club and Chestertons Estate Agents in partnership with the Grosvenor Estate and the Belgrave Square Garden Committee will be hosting a classic car show on Sunday, 24th June.
More than just the cars
With so many different cars on show, visitors will be able to spend the day with friends and family enjoying the lovely gardens and admiring the huge variety of motor vehicles on display. There will also be bars, refreshments, coffee & tea, a BBQ, an ice cream stand and cigars on offer and live jazz as pleasant background music.
Amanda Bond Elliott, Chairman of The Belgrave Square Garden Committee, emphasises how much of a community event it’s set to be. “There is so much to do, I hope people will spend a few hours looking around and getting something to eat and drink too,” she says. “It would be great if people brought their families and dogs to enjoy the – hopefully – sunny day.”
The inspiration
Craig McWilliam, Grosvenor’s CEO, is a car enthusiast and was keen for the event to go ahead. Previous years had seen children’s parties and cinemas fill the vacant day in the week of festivities, but Amanda’s idea was to fill it with something that could take place every year like the barbecue and dog show. With support from the Grosvenor senior management team, the wheels were set in motion and the event was organised.
This year marks the seventh year that Belgrave Square Garden has hosted community events and is a prime example of bringing the community together. With so much going on during the day, why not head down and make the most of all there is to do.
